Help with dataset descriptions

Introduction

The help document "Managing your dataset descriptions with ANZMP" explains the three methods for preparing your dataset descriptions. You can use the Eco Companion online "Edit dataset description" facility which leads you through the process, or you can specify the URL of a geospatial dataset description as a metadata document in SGML/XML format, or use batch processing facilities to validate a set of documents.

Software for maintaining your own SGML metadata documents

If you choose the method of specifying a URL, then you need to prepare a geospatial metadata document in SGML/XML format and place it on an Internet server. Use any of the following software to maintain your SGML metadata documents:

• Panorama Publisher and Panorama Viewer by SoftQuad
• Author/Editor by SoftQuad
• Corel WordPerfect
• The ANZLIC database Metadata Entry Tool (MET) uses MS Access, MET version 5.0 will produce output in XML
• a simple text editor, if you know what you are doing
• FrameMaker+SGML
• XMetaL from SoftQuad
