ANZMP content checks
The following content checks are carried out by the Australia New
Zealand Metadata Parser (ANZMP). Some
common mistakes are described below. The ANZLIC
guidelines "Core
Metadata Elements for Land and Geographic Directories in Australia and
New Zealand" explain the allowed content of each element.

- Coordinates
- North and south latitude are within the range -90 <= latitude <=
+90
- East and west longitude are within the range -180 <= longitude
<= +180
- North latitude >= south latitude
- East longitude >= west longitude
- North latitude and south latitude cannot both be zero
- East longitude and west longitude cannot both be zero
- North, West, South, East cannot all be zero
- DSGPOLYO (Geographic Extent Polygon) - ensure that coordinates are within range
- Dates
- valid ISO 8601
numeric date string: YYYY-MM-DD or YYYY-MM or YYYY
- YYYY is a four digit number
- MM is a two digit number in the range 01 to 12
- DD is a two digit number in the range 01 to 31
- Keywords
- keywords in the following elements are validated against the
relevant authority list
- JURISDIC
- BEGDATE
- ENDDATE
- PROGRESS
- UPDATE
- THEME qualifier
- STATE (only if COUNTRY is not "New Zealand")
- Content length
- the following elements have restrictions on the length of their
content
- ABSTRACT - 2000 characters
- ACCCONST - 500 characters
- LINEAGE - 2000 characters
- POSACC - 2000 characters
- ATTRACC - 2000 characters
- LOGIC - 2000 characters
- COMPLETE - 2000 characters
- Email address
- CNTEMAIL - must at least looks like an email address (have the
structure aa@bb.cc.dd)
- If it is not a valid email address then it must be a keyword ("None"
or "Not known")
- Not using defined keywords
- The content of any <keyword> element must be selected from
the relevant controlled list of keywords.
- You cannot just add your own text to these fields.
- Using a keyword inside a <date> element
- The <date> element can only contain a string in the ISO
8601 date format
- Examples: 1997-03-28, 1997-03, 1997
