Title: Urban Wildlife Database
Custodian: ACT Government, Department of Urban Services, Environment ACT
Jurisdiction: Australian Capital Territory
Abstract:
The database manages information about situations in which animals have been found in distress. It contains details on the type of animals in distress, street address of where they were found, details of the animals situation, description of the ranger's action towards the animal, and details of the after care. The Urban Wildlife Program is a co-operative effort between the ACT Parks and Conservation Service and the ACT Wildlife Foundation. Native animals in distress are reported to a 24 hour answering service manned by the Wildlife Foundation by members of the public. The case is assessed and referred to a Wildlife Ranger if necessary. A number of honourary vets are utilised and the animals placed with wildlife carers for rehabilitation where possible
