Abstract:
This data set includes areas assigned a range of land uses within the ACTPLA Land Use Policy Area data set and the National Capital Plan data set within the Department of Urban Services Corportate Geographic Database (DUS CGD). The intent of the data set is to enable these areas to be highlighted in a colour representative of Urban areas. This has been created to complement other data, which together forms the DUS CGD under the GIM Strategy. The DUS CGD creates a fully homogeneous and integrated set of core geographic information which uses Oracle SDO. The DUS CGD is a read only Oracle spatial database located in the ACT Government's production computing environment and is capable of being directly read by most GIS software. The CGD stores data in both the ACT Stromlo Projection and MGA94 projection for Zone55. This data set includes the following attributes: Urban_ID, ANZLIC_ID, Source_ANZLIC_ID, Feature_Type_Code, Create_Date, Feature_Instance_Metadata_ID.

Access constraints:
The Corporate Geographic Database has been compiled as a part of the ACT Geographic Information Management Strategy. Community access data sets in the database are available for internal use by agencies in the ACT Government, including presentation through ACT Government web sites. Use outside of this should be approved by the custodian of the source data (GIM Unit). This data set is classified as Community Access.
Lineage:
The data set has been created from two existing data sets in the CGD and reference should be made to the metadata statements for these in the first instance. They are the Land Use Policy Area data set (ANZAC0236001036) and the National Capital Plan data set (ANZAC0236001037). The following selections were made: From Land Use Policy Area: Land Use Policy Text = Residential, Commercial, Industrial, Municipal Services, Entertainment, and Community Facility. From the National Capital Plan: Land Use Text = Administration/Cultural, Carpark, Clubs, Commercial, Community facility, Cultural, Defence, Diplomatic, Offices, Parliamentary Use and Residential. These selections were made and merged into a single Shape file. Unrequired attributes were dropped and the ANZLIC_ID was transferred to the Source_ANZLIC_ID to enable a user to determine which original data set a component came from. This data set was then clipped to only include data within the areas set aside as Divisions. A unique identifier was assigned and the result was converted back into an Oracle table in the CGD.
