Custodian: ACT Government, Department of Urban Services, Customer Service and Information, Information Management Branch
Jurisdiction: Australian Capital Territory
Abstract:
This data set description covers three scenes of satellite imagery which were captured by the SPOT 5 satellite operated by the Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES)which holds the copyright to the data. The imagery was acquired to assist in the recovery after the bushfires which swept through the area in January 2003. Scene 1 was acquired on 15 February 2003 and Scene 2 was acquired on 13 March 2003. They have been grouped into one metadata entry on the basis that they have been acquired for the same purpose and processed in a similar way.

Access constraints:
The copyright for SPOT imagery is held by Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES). The license to these scenes is for internal use by all agencies of the ACT Government, ACTEWAGL, and Geoscience Australia within the scope of the CITIES Project.
Lineage:
Level 1A imagery acquired by the Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales using the SPOT 5 satellite. The Panchromatic and Multispectral bands were supplied to Raytheon Australia Pty Ltd who arranged for their orthocorrection. This was carried out by using DEM data and road data (mostly 1:25,000 scale) provided by Land and Property Information in NSW, and trails data provided by the ACT Department of Urban Services. In some areas additional independently acquired ground control was included. The resulting panchromatic and multispectral scenes were then combined to create a merged natural colour file for each which was then converted to an .ecw format.
Positional accuracy:
SPOT 5 panchromatic imagery has a resolution of 2.5m. Multispectral imagery has a resolution of 10m. Based on the lineage of the orthocorrected imagery, the resulting products are likely to have an accuracy of about 3 to 4 pixels.
Attribute accuracy:
Not Documented
Logical Consistency:
Not Documented
Completeness:
The imagery is complete for the extent recorded in this metadata statement.
