Title: DUS Corporate Geographic Database - Land Use Agistment

Custodian

Custodian: ACT Government, Department of Urban Services, Customer Service and Information, Information Management Branch

Jurisdiction: Australian Capital Territory

Description

Abstract:

Environment ACT, a business unit within DUS is the custodian of the source data for the Agistment table in the Corporate Geographic Database (CGD). This layer is a modified version of the Environment ACT agistment data. It has been created to the specification agreed to as a part of the GIM Strategy and included in the CGD created under that strategy. The CGD creates a fully homogeneous and integrated set of core geographic information which uses Oracle SDO. The CGD is a read only Oracle spatial database hosted within the ACT Government's production computing environment and is capable of being directly read by most GIS software. The CGD stores data in both the ACT Stromlo Projection and MGA94 projection for Zone55. This data set includes the following attributes: Agistment_ID, Description, ANZLIC_ID, Source_ANZLIC_ID, Feature_Type_Code, Create_Date, Area and Feature_Instance_Metadata_ID.

Access

Stored data format:
Digital: Oracle Spatial 9.2 using SDO with homogeneous spatial objects. Two versions exist, one in ACT Stromlo projection and one in MGA94 projection for Zone 55.
Available format type:
Digital: Oracle Spatial 9.2 export.
Digital: Any format capable of being translated by Safe Software's FME software.
Digital: Direct read of Oracle spatial by common GIS software.

Access constraints:

The Corporate Geographic Database has been compiled as a part of the ACT Geographic Information Management Strategy. Community access data sets in the database are available for internal use by agencies in the ACT Government, including presentation through ACT Government web sites. Use outside of this should be approved by the supplier of the source data (Environment ACT). This data set is classified as Community Access.

Data quality

Lineage:

The Agistment table has been created from the agistment data provided by Environment ACT. The original data was supplied as a Shape file in AGD66 projection. This was then imported into an ArcInfo coverage, reprojected to ACT Stromlo projection and restructured to conform to the logical Corporate Data Model. The data was then cleaned using a tolerance of 5mm. The result was then converted to Oracle Spatial using an Arc Coverage import to FME and further verification performed. Contact the DUS IM Branch for further information on these processes.

Positional accuracy:

A prospective user should contact the supplier of the source data set (Environment ACT) for details of the horizontal accuracy. The errors introduced through the conversion process to this data set are less than 0.1m. The Z value is not stored.

Attribute accuracy:

The attributes are estimated to be correct at the 95% confidence level or better.

Logical Consistency:

The source data is managed in a way which largely eliminates logical inconsistencies. Some minor variations may be introduced in the transfer process, however all geometry is then cleaned using ArcInfo software prior to transfer to the final Oracle Spatial format. The clean tolerance used is 5mm. Regions are created to ensure the completeness of multipolygons.

Completeness:

The data provided by the source custodian is managed using ArcView software. Updates are performed on an irregular basis. The latest version of this data is used for each update of the CGD table.
