Title: DUS Corporate Geographic Database - Built Environment Community Paths
Custodian: ACT Government, Department of Urban Services, Customer Service and Information, Information Management Branch
Jurisdiction: Australian Capital Territory
Abstract:
Roads ACT, a business unit within DUS, is the custodian of the source data for community paths. This metadata record documents two data sets which have been derived from the Roads ACT Community Paths data. These are Cyclepath Area and Footpath Area. These have been created to the specification agreed to as a part of the DUS GIM Strategy and included in the Department of Urban Services Corporate Geographic Database (DUS CGD) created under that strategy. The DUS CGD creates a fully homogeneous and integrated set of core geographic information over the ACT which uses Oracle SDO. The DUS CGD is a read only Oracle spatial database hosted within the ACT Government's production computing environment and is capable of being directly read by most GIS software. The DUS CGD stores data in both the ACT Stromlo Projection and MGA94 projection for Zone55. These data sets includes the following attributes: Cyclepath_Area_Id or Footpath_Area_Id (A persistent identifier), Path_Type_Code, Path_Type_Text, ANZLIC_ID, Source_ANZLIC_ID, Feature_Type_Code, Create_Date, Area and Feature_Instance_Metadata_ID.

Access constraints:
The DUS Corporate Geographic Database has been compiled as a part of the DUS Geographic Information Management Strategy. Community access data sets in the database are available for internal use by agencies in the ACT Government, including presentation through ACT Government web sites. Use outside of this should be approved by the supplier of the source data (Roads ACT). This data set is classified as Community Access.
Lineage:
The Cyclepath and Footpath Area tables have been created from data provided by Roads ACT which is managed in their ArcInfo system. The original data was supplied to the DUS GIM Unit as a single coverage containing all path areas. Cyclepaths were distinguishable from Footpaths by the attribute of path_type. The data was translated into an Oracle spatial format and loaded into the Logical CGD. The data was then extracted through a script to translate community paths to individual data sets for cyclepaths and footpaths and loaded into the Physical CGD format. Verification checks were then performed. Contact the DUS IM Branch for further information on these processes.
Positional accuracy:
A prospective user should contact the supplier of the source data set (Roads ACT) for details of the horizontal accuracy. The Z value is not stored.
Attribute accuracy:
There are no attributes other than the ID, Path type and standard Corporate Geographic Database attributes recorded.
Logical Consistency:
The source data is managed in a way which largely eliminates logical inconsistencies.
Completeness:
The data provided by the source custodian is managed in a rigorous manner and is updated on demand. The latest version of this data is used for each update. NOTE: The attributes of Source_ANZLIC_ID, Feature_Type_Code and Feature_Attribute_Metadata_ID have not been populated.
